With great sadness I report that John W. Mink died last Sunday, March 29, 2026 at his home in Edwards Colorado.

He was blessed to know his desire to become an architect even before high school. John was a helluva skier and he spent much time commuting to Wilmot "Mountain". We palled around often with Dave Hast and his first love Wendy Baumle Snyder (class of 1975). He nicknamed his mother's circa '65 Mustang "Bambino" after the character in the Trinity spaghetti westerns. We hauled out to Colorado University at Boulder together where he completed his Bachelor of Environmental Design degree. He followed up with a Masters in Solar Engineering/Environmental Design at Arizona State and the Harvard School of Design. He opened his own design firm - Architectural Partnership in 1992 and collected over 40 design awards with spreads in Sunset and Better Homes and Gardens magazines among others. Continuing on in Boulder, John fathered two wonderful kids, Lexi and Taylor and shared a wonderful life with his lovely wife Lisa Mink, a Diabetes Educator and Dietician. He later married the accomplished interior designer Carol Moore ASID and together they opened Moore & Mink, Inc. Combined they specialized in fine architecture and interior design in Edwards Colorado (the Vail Valley).

Throughout his life John appreciated automotive excellence, 18 holes of golf, a good buzz and an appreciation of design in all forms. First and foremost for John was always the people in his life...his family and especially the great loves of his life.

If you ever encountered John back in the day, you'll likely recall his bright blue eyes, kind demeanor, and love of life. If he is in your memories, I'm sure you recall him fondly

I am saddened to hear John Mink's passing. While we were not terrible close at New Trier, I enjoyed hanging out with him during our times at New Trier  John was a very likeable person who treated everyone around him with kindness and respect. I'm glad he put his skills to work to build up a successful architecture business. May God bless John and his family.

John took me for my first (and only ride) in a Corvette! We had fun communicating via his interesting FB posts. Shocked and sad to hear. Peace to his loved ones.

I am so sad to hear about John. He and I grew up together - across the street from each other on Ashland Ave. I recall hanging out in HS listening to the Dead with him and he was the one who urged me to go to Univ at Boulder and turned me on to environmental design - he is part of the reason I became  More…

I am so very sad to hear about John's passing.  I think John and I had only one date in HS and then re-connected through FB.  He was an amazing architect and I was always so impressed (and not a little jealous) of his designs although I never could have afforded any of the homes that he designed.  He really seemed to enjoy life and he was so in love with Carol!
